It simply won't do to have an empty blog.
Not that anyone noticed. Think about it. There are 7 billion of us, give or take, and say, probably inaccurately that 1 billion have Internet access. Of that 1 billion, maybe 50 million or more have created blogs.
I've forgotten the derivation of "blog." It could be a contraction of "boring" and "log." Whatever.
Out of the 50 million or so blogs, how many are read or even looked at? Off hand I can think of perhaps a dozen or two. The Daily Koz, etc.
Meaning that about 50 million people are writing for no one. Sending words into the void. Writing essays, confessions, clever ideas, poems, that will never be read. Never. A blog might even be a good alternative to a password keeping program. Who would think you posted your passwords on a blog, and no one would ever see it anyway.
I have another blog (yay for me) that gets about 1 or 2 views a year, mostly from creditors and insurance sales people who want to see if I am alive. Come to think of it, hundreds or thousands, or even millions of blogs may be written by dead people.
That is, the blog has not been updated nor has it been stricken. If you have ever looked at a diagram of the internet, it is easy to see why a few hundreds or thousands of dead bloggers would go unnoticed.
Same with Linked In and Face Book. Lots of dead people. No one has the time or inclination to check on how many of their clients are no more.
Consequently, I could write just about anything here. If only I had something to say. I could ramble on about autobiographical information, but how boring would that be? Or I could post fiction and poetry that I hope to publish some day. What would be the point?
Perhaps write something in other than the usual conversational tone. I could pretend to be someone else. That could be interesting, but might result in legal problems. The odds are infinitesimal, I know.
Well, if and when I have anything to say, you, (who am I kidding?) will see it here.
Thanks for watching. I think i'll get drunk now and call old girlfriends.
